Plant Konus carries out hot-dip galvanizing with the application of advanced technologies using modern equipment manufactured by the Italian company Gimeco. Careful steel surface pretreatment, which includes degreasing by surfactants; pickling, rinsing and fluxing, ensure quality complying with European standards for coatings application.

Galvanization is made both outside and inside.

New high-tech equipment makes it possible to carry out galvanizing of the unique constructions weighing up to 6 tons after custom order processing by technologists.

 

Total dimensions of the zinc kettle - (length x width x height) 15×1,8×3,5 m. Coating thickness is between 40 and 200 microns.

HOT-DIP GALVANIZATION GUARANTEES LONG-TERM OPERATIONAL LIFETIME

Corrosion causes premature failure of the high-value products and constructions, destruction of technological processes and equipment outage.

 

A pretreated article made of steel or cast iron is dipped into molten zinc preheated to 450 ° C, which results in coating of the metal, including hollows and inaccessible places at molecular level. This provides long lifetime of metal (from 50 up to 80 years). Coating thickness is between 40 and 200 microns.

HOT-DIP GALVANIZING IS THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO PROTECT STEEL AGAINST CORROSION

When calculating coating value operating costs for its maintenance in working condition are often not taken into account.  Experience has shown that during lifetime articles made of ferrous metals it is necessary to recoat them at least 3 times; which involves additional costs in production, including even temporarily suspension of production. Thus, with a view to the lifetime of the articles, which is usually about 25-30 years, zinc coating is 2 - 2.5 times cheaper than paint coating, as it doesn't require maintenance and supervision.

For this very reason hot dip galvanizing has long been considered the most effective and economical way of anti-corrosion protection of products and is recognized as an international standard.

HOT-DIP GALVANIZING IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE METHOD OF PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION

Zinc coating creates not only anticorrosion barrier with the thickness of 40-200 microns but also provides electrochemical protection of steel. The latter is known as "sacrificial protection" as zinc “sacrifices” itself in order to protect steel on which it is applied. Zinc will keep functioning in this way until the last atom. Even if zinc coating is damaged corrosion will not affect base metal due to buffer layer (two metal alloys, formed by high temperature at hot-dip galvanizing)!
